The Power of Community in Tech

I recently spoke at an event held by Lambda School (now Bloom Institute of Technology or BloomTech) called Moms in Tech. I was one of two guest speakers. Lambda School holds these events each week. They open the doors not only to discussions on diversity and inclusion in the tech industry, but also to delve into often glossed over topics like imposter syndrome.

Each panel creates a safe space where individuals in our industry can share their experiences and perspectives. This helps bridge gaps in communication, understanding, and distance. It also allows us the opportunity to grow while stepping out of our comfort zone, for speakers and audience alike.

While I learn a lot from each of these events, my greatest takeaway is that I am not alone. In tech, we are an incredibly talented and diverse community. That is something to lean into and build relationships within this community. This is part of our critical path to success. I encourage you to become both a mentor and a mentee throughout your learning journey and professional life. Never stop learning and take every opportunity to teach others.

I invite you to watch the recording of the Moms in Tech Panel as we share our experiences of going to school during Covid, managing family obligations, and job opportunities after graduation. My hope is that you continue the conversation.
